Water for wellbeing in suburban homes

Water is critical for keeping our suburbs healthy so Naarm (Melbourne) is a great place to live. Water helps keep these areas attractive and relaxing, and cool during hot summers. Using recycled water wherever we can around our homes helps protect our valuable drinking water.

Water for wellbeing in our suburban homes:
  • Home gardens are great places to play, socialise and relax. They keep us healthy and connected with family, friends and nature.
  • Home gardens and footpath verge trees and other plants are important for cooling the local area during hot summers. They also provide homes for wildlife.
  • Home gardens need smart approaches to watering to help them flourish while using water wisely.
  • Using recycled water for flushing toilets, washing clothes, and watering gardens helps preserve precious drinking water.

The new Dingley Recycled Water Scheme will deliver recycled water to around 40 sites in the Bayside, Kingston, Greater Dandenong and Monash Local Government Areas. Supplying local parks, world-class golf courses, sporting ovals, laundromats, market gardens and nurseries, the scheme will help preserve drinking water supply, regardless of changing climate conditions.
