Pre-event survey
To help prepare and tailor the events for each country, we are seeking your insights on perspectives, opportunities and interests in widening the integration and application of NbS in your country.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey for your country.
Our 2024 Knowledge Exchanges will convene stakeholders and experts from each country and from overseas to engage in a dialogue about using nature-based solutions to manage the impacts of urban development and climate change.
One event will be delivered in each country. Most events will take place over 2 days.
DAY 1
Day 1 sessions in each country will be structured similarly, with content covering country-specific case studies and understanding upscaling issues and challenges.
Session 1: Presenting RUCaS case studies and reviewing lessons learned
This session will review case studies that propose embedding NbS into urban contexts in each country, assessing options and considering lessons learned in developing hybrid concepts that respond to issues faced by cities impacted by rapid growth and climate change.
We will look at what options were considered against a business-as-usual model of development, and consider the costs and benefits to the environment, economies and the urban cityscape. We will also look at where value accrues and who realises the benefits and over what scales. The session will also consider how NbS could be upscaled – what is needed, and where there are opportunities and challenges.
Session 2: Implementing case study concepts and upscaling
This session will explore upscaling challenges and identify priorities and next steps for generating enabling conditions for NbS implementation in each country.
DAY 2
Day 2 activities are tailored to needs and priorities in each country:
- Cambodia – Technical workshop and training on benefit–cost analysis (BCA). This training is targeted to engage economists and experts from Cambodian Government ministries and universities.
- Viet Nam – Technical training, site visit and workshop on the NbS interventions being promoted in the Can Tho case study, including universal and inclusive design.
- Lao PDR – Technical workshop and training on draft guidelines for urban streams and wetlands. The RUCaS case studies and other examples will be used to review the guidelines and consider how they could be applied.
